Fishing Reports     2010 Reports

2011

Date:  May 14, 2011 Table Rock Lake
Report:   Well the water is high on Table Rock and it will probably be high for several weeks with all the terrible flooding downstream, so with that being said lets talk about the fishing. Fishing has been awesome. It must be because of all the current rolling thru the lake but the smallmouth fishing is as good as I have ever seen it. Even when you get in tight to the brush all we are catching is smallmouth. Nothing wrong with that because the keeper ratio has been really good with lots of three pounders showing up. There is a really good tube bite also fishing out in front of the bushes and of course if dragging a small worm is your thing, that is working also. A shakey head is catching them good and on cloudy days the topwater bite is strong. The ramps are getting better daily with the only thing we are lacking is parking because the high water has taken all the parking spots at alot of the ramps. If catching smallmouth is what you like to do then now is the time to be on the lake because they are hungry and very mean when you catch one right now. The below pictures are from this past week with Kelli and Joe catching their first ever smallmouth. Also note the chipmunk that came swimming by the boat heading for the middle of the lake. He was confused and about out of gas from swimming. After he took a much needed rest on top of my jackplate I picked him up using my rod and set him on a dock to rest. I hope the little fella makes it.

See ya on the water

Date:  April 20, 2011 Table Rock Lake
Report:   The fishing on Table Rock is good. Full moon and water temps in the high 50's to mid 60's has the fish thinking about spawning. There are many ways to catch them at this time. Swimming a grub, topwater, fishing a jig around trees and docks, shakey head, split shot rig with a 4" worm on flat banks are all catching fish. Points leading at the mouths of spawning coves are hot spots right now. The water is very clear around 13 to the dam with up to 15 foot visibility.

Date:  February 16, 2011 Table Rock Lake
Report:   Well the weather finally broke and I got a chance to get out on a nice 65 degree day. We had a very successful day catching 5 keepers, three blacks and two spots, and 5 short fish. Jerkbaits and grubs was the best baits and you had to fish slow. Water temp is 44 degrees so this pattern is going to work for sometime so sharpen your hooks. I have attached a picture of the biggest fish we had. The lake is in great shape as far as water color goes. It is clear with real good visibility which enables the fish to see your bait and come up to it, just be patient. It won't be long before the trees are budding and the bass will be thinking about that magical time of the year.
